Hello! My name is Nicolette. I am a fifth grade student in Saint Helen School.
I interviewed my dad Peter.
Q1. What country are you
from?
A1. I was born in America but my parents are from Poland.
Q2. Were you born in that
country?
A1. No, I was not born in Poland. I lived there for six years.
Q3. Are there special events
or monuments where you lived? If so, what are they?
A3. Krakow is known for its beautiful preserved Medieval Old Town. Here you
can see the 700 year old Saint Mary’s Basilica and the Market Square
called the “Rynek”. Wawel Castle is also a famous monument. It
is where most of the Polish Kings are buried.
Q4. What is your favorite
part, town, or city to visit in your country? Why do you like it?
A4. I love to visit southern Poland, the city of Krakow and the Tatra Mountains
in particular. I love the architecture in Krakow, it makes me feel like I’m
in the Middle Ages. I also enjoy hiking in the Tatra Mountains. These mountains
are part of the Carpathian Mountain Range that separate Poland from Slovakia
and the Czech Republic.
Q5. What are some types
of clothing people wear in Poland?
A5. We wear mostly the same type of clothing worn in America. In the winter
you will see a lot of people wearing fur hats to keep their heads warm.
Q6. What are special holidays
celebrated in this country?
A6. Poland is 95% Roman Catholic and celebrate all the same church holidays
as we do. One of my favorites though is Palm Sunday. There are no palm trees
in Poland so everyone decorates slender sticks with colorful flowers and brings
them to church on Palm Sunday. The churches are very colorful.

A2.Ujazdowski Castle is a castle named after my grandparents. It is located
in lovely Lazienki Park. Lazineki Park is also known as Ujazdowski. Ujazdowski

problems caused that building to loose its residents. It was rebuilt after
WWII. It now is home to Warsaw’s leading Centre of Contemporary Art.
All types of marvelous exhibitions can be enjoyed, including shows by local
talent to those by stars in the art world from across the globe. Also, to
be found in the complex castle are excellent restaurants and bookshops.
