Program Offerings

Adobe Flash : Flash is a multimedia environment in which students learn how to use text, graphics, and sound to create animations, games and interactive websites. Flash is an industry standard used to make many of the websites we see today. Students learn how to program with actionscript in order to make games and interactive projects.

LEGO® Mindstorms® Robotics Club: An exciting and innovative club that teaches science through engineering and computers, using LEGO®, an RCX or NXT brick system and programmable components. Robotics projects include robotics animals and could include participation in the FIRST LEGO League and other competitions.

Digital Video Clubs: Digital Video Clubs are project-based programs for high school students that incorporate digital storytelling, writing, filmmaking, editing and production. Students create original documentaries, public service announcements, dramas, music videos and commercials as part of an overall curriculum incorporating media literacy, collaboration and real world skills. Projects are heavily influenced by mentor-student collaboration.

Digital Audio Clubs: Digital Audio Clubs are project-based programs for high school students that study and observe the art of sound. Students dissect sounds and learn to relate to music and sounds around them. Through ProTools, Reason, Garageband or Fruity Loops, students develop their technical ability and are able to produce a complete song.

Digital Photography Club: Using digital photography helps students become more involved with a subject.  This class provides students the opportunity to begin to represent the world around them. Beyond the technical aspect of the course, this program will work to develop students' literacy with images and give them the tools to express their own ideas through photographs.

FIRST Robotics-High School Level: The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week timeframe using a standard "kit of parts" and a common set of rules. Teams build robots from the parts and enter them in a series of competitions designed by Dean Kamen, Woodie Flowers, and a committee of engineers and other professionals.

Web Design and Development: In the web design and development program, students learn how to make their own websites and post it to the web. Students pick a topic of interest, research that topic, and build a multi-page website. Students also learn the concept of blogging and podcasting.
